dipsomaniac Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 i like the line 'when i took ownership from him'. don't want to sound too harsh but some of you are judging someone on one side of the story. is it a technical thread?? (read it again) should be moved to the 'dear deidre' section. Quote
Guest EVSS Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 if hes your ex partner...i presume he was insured to drive it? because logically if hes the ex hes not on your policy. so claim on his insurance...... if hes not insured then thats a whole different can of worms. Quote

(read it again) should be moved to the 'dear deidre' section. HMMM....true i am judging on one side of the story.....and yes this is in the wrong section and i shall move it to the appropiate one. Galaxy Heather, Can you please clarify how you took ownership from him???did he hjust hand you the car or are you on all the ownership documentation? Quote
broom broom Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 I own the car my names on the V5 and insurance.... We bought the car when we were together 5 years ago and when i started to drive he handed it over cause he handn't driven it for a year cause he had a company vechile Well anyway i got a wing for Quote
mumof4 Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 But is he on the insurance to drive it???Thats the crux i think. Is he insured to drive at all???and if he has a company car still..then i would claim on his insurance. Quote
broom broom Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 yeah he's a named driver on the policy can i claim on his insurance he has with the company without it affecting my insurance? Quote
mumof4 Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 To be honest i dont know..you can ring up your insurance and find out...I am not to clear how it would work as he is a named driver .You can only ask your insurers, they will know better than i.But i think that you wont have a leg to stand on as he is a named driver. But i may be wrong.Ring your insurers and ask. Guest 3.5bullet Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 yeah he's a named driver on the policy can i claim on his insurance he has with the company without it affecting my insurance? probably not! why should his company pay for damage done to a privately owned vehicle while being used on non company business? if as you say he's a named driver on your policy he's covered by that and any claims will be sorted by that policy Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Insurance policies are deemed to lapse if more than one policy covers the damage being claimed and the "first" party insurance precides over any associated policies. EG he is insured on his own policy in your name and this will be deemed the policy that will override any other coverage. Basically you will need claim on your own insurance I am affraid. Quote
